Dear Friends,
Welcome! I’m glad you’ve taken a moment to take
a peek at the exciting things happening here at the Franklin church.
Let me introduce you to the church and its ministry.
The first question people tend to ask when they
come through the doors of the church is this: "what exactly is
a Presbyterian anyway?" A Presbyterian is a devoted Christian who
believes that, in the person of Jesus Christ, God comes into the world
to offer sinners the gift of grace and the hope of salvation.
We understand the Bible to be the unique and
authoritative Word of God, and affirm that God blesses the church with
unity while simultaneously calling us to recognize our diversity by
welcoming the gifts and talents of all.
Presbyterians are a missional people who believe
we have a great story to tell, and are called to tell it!
We have a representative form of government in
which Elders are chosen by God and elected by the people to serve
Christ and the church with "energy, intelligence, imagination and
love."
The Franklin church is blessed to be a part of a
connectional body of Presbyterian churches throughout the world who
trust that, together, we can have a much more effective witness than
any one congregation working alone.
Ours is a community church. We seek to provide
the community with spiritual nurture and hospitality through our
worship, education, and outreach.
Sunday worship finds us in our Great Hall at
8:30 a.m. for an interactive service "in the round," and in our
Sanctuary at 11:00 a.m. for a more traditional service with
time-honored hymns, liturgy, and a wide variety of choirs.
Our Church School is nestled between the two
worship hours—giving families the blessed opportunity of worshipping together
and joining with others of a similar age (pre-school to adult) to hear
with joy and discernment the stories of faith. To supplement our
opportunities for learning and hands-on-mission, we sponsor a Youth
Group and a local mission society known as Presbyterian Women, as well
as hosting some seasonal small groups for adults.
This church is a wonderful place to meet God and
encounters others who believe, as I’m sure you do, that we are blessed
by grace, through faith, to know Christ and give witness to the gospel
which points us heavenward.
Come join us some Sunday soon. Tell us your
story, and become a part of ours. Blessings,
Pastor
